What are the fuel sources for nuclear power plants and the sun?

How is the fuel from each of them used to produce/release energy?
What are the similarities in the way they produce energy?
Are there any health hazards associated with the way they produce energy?
Why is energy released when the nuclear reactions take place? Talk about this using your research on the forces that hold the nucleus of an atom together.

Any help with these questions would be much appreciated.

Both of them rely on the total mass of the product(s) being lighter than than the total mass of the fuel.
    and E=DELTA_m * c*c

Both produce radiation which can damage tissue (Even the Sun does this – Consider skin cancer due to potential of excessive exposure to UVA/UVB)

Don’t know about the last bit. Except for E=m*c*c

Fuel for the sun is Hydrogen in a fusion process. Hydrogen forms a Helium core. If the star is massive enough, it will then do fusion on the Helium making a carbon core. If the Sun is really massive, it will fuse carbon to make Iron……then kablooey. Summary. Sun uses fusion and burns Hydrogen mainly. Fusion emits a ton of energy, with little radiation. (don’t get confused with electromagnetic radiation) The suns energy comes to earth, lets plants grow, animals thrive, and you get petroleum from organic waste (gasoline)

Reactor plants don’t use the same process as the sun. They use Fission where they break apart atoms using radiation, thus causing a chain reaction. The power comes from the water than is used to cool the reaction chamber. The superheated water then turns a turbine, which give you the power.

Fission is dangerous as the emitted particles can destroy DNA (radiation poisoning)
Fusion, I think is only dangerous when it reacts. I don’t think you need to worry much for emitted particles. check out https://lasers.llnl.gov/ for the worlds first fusion power plants coming soon!!! The UVa and UVb thing is purely electromagnetic radiation. I’d be more worried about solar flares. Those are nasty things. Did you know a intergalactic solar flare from and explosion light years away can kill all life on earth? Creepy considering a nearby star is supposed to exploded soon. BeetleJuice I believe is whats its called. Cheerio lad!

I think I shall stop there as the last question you asked should be for you to do. You did do research right?
